YIS is proud to be the ‘one-and-only authorized International Baccalaureate World School (IB) in Yogyakarta.
The YIS Curriculum is based on the Early Years and Primary Years Program (IB-PYP), on the Middle Years Program (IB-MYP) and on the Diploma Program (IB-DP). During the past three years, all YIS students who have taken the IB Diploma Program, have successfully passed their exams with scores above the global average. For Indonesian students, the YIS Curriculum is integrated with the Ujian Nasional (national education standards). YIS report cards, academic transcripts, certificates and diplomas are acknowledged by other IB schools in Indonesia and overseas, and by top-class universities worldwide.
The YIS Curriculum covers a broad range of learning subjects, including foreign languages, mathematics, sciences, environmental studies, history, geography, music, design, arts and physical education. Besides the school offers a choice of extra-curricular activities to foster sportive, creative and technical skills. Education is delivered in English by a team of international and national IB-trained teachers.
The YIS is located in the historic city of Yogyakarta that is a renowned centre of culture and education. The school was founded in 1989, and is the only school in Yogyakarta that is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Culture to offer an international curriculum that is based on the IB programme. The YIS operates as an independent private school under the legal umbrella of the Yogyakarta International Education Foundation (YPIY). The YIS Campus grounds of 6,5 hectares comprise state-of-the-art facilities for hybrid face-to-face and online learning, excellent outdoor sports facilities and botanical gardens.
Entry Requirements:International and Indonesian students are welcome to join the YIS. Enrolment of new students may be done online through our website (www.yis-edu.org), or at the YIS front office. Admission and placement depend on the available capacity of the school, on student records of previous schools, and on a standard admission test by the YIS. Students may be enrolled throughout the ongoing school year.
